The publication gives a glimpse of various programs of NHS those provided the activities on prison health interventions, safe migration, peer education, drug abuse prevention and advocacy, HIV prevention, treatment, and care support targeted to prisoners, injecting drug users, male who have sex with male, female sex worker etc which have implemented by NHS in Nepal.

Since 2004, NHS began the prison intervention program in financial and technical support of UNODC , India and after that NHS continuing in the same field from the support of different UN agencies, INGOs and national organization too. The interventions were targeted for the improvement of health and living condition of incarcerated population. The programmatic interventions were designed for capacity building of the incarcerated population to ensure sustainability and effectiveness of the program implemented.

Training of peer educators selected among the inmates, their mobilization for dissemination of information on HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis, TB and STIs, Mobile HTC and STI diagnosis camps, advocacy and sensitization to the prison management and security personnel, BCC for disease prevention and income generation for inmates are the major activities conducted by NHS for the incarcerated population.
